Subscription Haul: New Beauty Test Tube January 2013

Today I bring you another haul! I got my Test Tube last week and thought I'd share what I got. I feel like this subscription is the least talked about and it deserves so much more hype. It's my favorite subscription by far and although this month's box wasn't as good as last one (because I received an It Cosmetics powder brush from that and that was a game changer for me!), it's still pretty impressive.

Here's what you'll see when you open the pretty pink box it comes in (without the booklet - I forgot to include!)

They usually send an extra bag of "Beauty To Go" in a clear bag. Let's dive in that first, shall we?

Morrocanoil Intense Hydrating Mask  2.53 fl.oz - At first I thought this was a repeat product from a previous box but after further inspection, I realized that this was formulated for dry and damaged hair while the other one is hydration for medium to thick hair. Honestly, I haven't used that one because the direction calls for applying it on towel dried hair, leaving it on and then rinsing if off - Momma's got no time for that. This one has directions like that, too. Ugh. So I don't know when I'll get a chance to try this out. Anyone tried this before? Is worth it? (Retail: $74.40 for 16.9 fl.oz)

Lumene Time Freeze Firming Day Cream (.5 fl.oz) - I've tried Lumene cream products before and I'm neither impressed nor disappointed. I haven't used anything long enough to notice long term effects but for immediate results, they seem moisturizing enough. This is as thick as other Lumene creams I've tried but seems a lot smoother. If you're interested in trying out Lumene creams, I sugget that you check out your local CVS as they have these .5 fl.oz jars on clearance for 49 cents! I think regularly, they're priced at $4.99.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion (.4oz) - My first impression on this product is that it's very lightweight and it absorbs pretty fast. I applied it on my (bare) face on the area around my nose and it appears to mattify pretty well. It comes to a slightly powdery finish and feels quite nice. It has a scent that you wouldn't expect from a product of this nature. It smells kind of herbal. It's not offending or anything like that. It's just noticeable. Additionally, just now, I tried it on my boyfriend's forehead and he has an extremely oily face. I am amazed! It absorb all the oil super quick! So far, I'm liking this product! (Retail: $60 for 1.7oz)

As for the rest of the products:

Votivo Candle in Red Currant (1 tin - Full Size) - This candle smells amazing!!! Just the right amount of sweetness. I also really like the sleek and simple packaging. (Retail: $12)

Biosilk Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder (.5oz - full size) - I'm really excited about this one. I've heard marvelous reviews about texturizing powders and if it works as well as they say, then this is what my fine, flat hair needs! (Retail: $12.50)

Pantene Expert Collection - Shampoo and Conditioner (3.9 fl.oz Shampoo, 2.5 fl.oz Conditioner) - Not much to say about this one. I like Pantene, I like shampoos and conditioners. We got the Age Defying set a few boxes ago and got the Advanced Keratin Repair this time around. (Retail: $7.99 each for 10.1 fl.oz, and 8.4 fl.oz respectively)

Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Sailor (.4oz - Full Size) - This is the third Mally pencil that I got from TestTube. This one is in Sailor which is a really dark navy blue. It appears lighter on the pencil but appears almost black when swatched. I really like these Mally pencils because they're very pigmented, creamy and glide very easy. (Retail: $15)

Moroccanoil Body Butter (1.7 fl.oz) - I got another one of this in one of the past boxes and if I'm not mistaken, the only difference is that this one is pretty much scentless. I love Moroccanoil body butters because they're so moisturizing and they absorb super easy on the skin. I sometimes find that with most body butters, I find myself having to rub it in for a while before it disappears into my skin and even then, it stays sticky for a little bit. (Retail: $52 for 6.4 fl. oz)

Revlon Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler (.4 fl.oz - Full Size) - Haven't tried this one yet but I have high hopes for it. In my opinion, drugstore brand skin care have stepped up their game pretty well! (Retail: $13)

And just for reference, here's what I got from my last Testtube which I think is by far the one I was most pleased with! I can't remember what I got on the To Go bag this one so I wasn't able to include those so these are all from the "actual" box but note that the It Cosmetic powder brush alone retails for $48.

New Beauty TestTube remains to be my favorite subscription box. It is on the pricey side but in my opinion, you get so much more. It's such a good way to explore higher end products. The box is $38.90 and comes every two months. You can check them out here and if you're interested in subscribing, leave a comment and I'll give you my referral link so you can get $5off your first box!
