Stay With Me

Bigger and better things are coming!

I am focused.
I am taking myself and what I want to do more seriously.
I am right now defining myself as a blogger, as an entrepreneur, as an individual in the internet world.
I am getting ready to relaunch my online shop.
I am getting ready to sign up for spring/ summer market.
I am getting to know a different side of me.

Please stay tuned. Life is gonna be good! :)

Gold Rings and New Website Discovery

Well, hello, beautiful people!

So first of all, I wanted to show you the gold rings I made yesterday. All I used were gold wire (20gauge), small bead tube (to use as mandrel for shaping), wire bending pliers and wire cutter. I was gonna do a full on tutorial but I found that there are already lots of those around (for the heart shaped ones at least) so I'll just show you what I made and hopefully, you'll get some inspiration. They're super easy plus you can make them so they're adjustable. Perfect for stacking or just wearing by themselves!

They're super fun and the possibilities are endless!

Second thing is this website that I discovered today. It's called I Wear Sin and there's an option to customize your SIN, where you'll pick a product, add embellishments and then their fashion stylists will hand sew them for you! I think this idea is GENIUS. Don't get me wrong, I would still do my own embellishing especially because they have limited options plus I can do it for cheaper. I am all still for self expression and DIY. But I know a LOT of people who would be all over this. I think given the time to develop, this could be a phenomenal trend!

I personally love these shorts.

Sooooooo.....Love it or hate it? What do you think?

DIY: New Look For Old Bangles

Hey! I know it's been a while. On my last post, I said my very first tutorial was coming up. I had high hopes when I started the project - I took pictures of the steps and everything but unfortunately, the end product didn't turn out as grand as I thought. :( Oh well, maybe I'll try that project again next time.. I'm too frustrated with it for now. haha!

But anyway, have no fear! I've been looking forward to posting a tutorial so I've been crafting in all my free time (not that I get lots of those lately. Work has been kicking my ass) I have a couple of projects lined up and I decided to share with you this one first.

DRESS UP YOUR BANGLES

Oh what did you say? You have old bangles that you swore were pretty cool when you got them but now are just kinda lame? You heard that tribal prints are in this season?

Well, I have good news for you! Bring out your glue gun and let's give those babies a new look!

Here's what you need:

(1) ruler and cutting tool of choice; (2) glue gun; (3) old bangle(s); (4) tribal print fabric - or really, any fabric that you want to use

Let's get started!

Step 1: Cut a strip of your fabric, 1" wide

Step 2: Start gluing! Tip: Start on the inside of the bangle because the glue would probably be really messy and wouldn't look pretty.

Step 3: Wrap the entire bangle as tightly as you can. You don't have to put glue on every round, just maybe every 2 or 3 to keep it secure. Tip: At the beginning, I suggest to wrap the fabric around itself 2-3 times before moving on to cover and secure the ends.

Step 4: When you reach the end of your fabric, fold & glue the end about half an inch to make a hem before you glue it to the bangle. (Does that make sense?) This way, you get a cleaner finish. If you run out of fabric before you cover the whole bangle, that's okay. Just be sure to go around the ends of your first fabric so it's secure and the cover up is better - then go along as you did before.

Tadaaaah! New bangles for spring! Did I mention how much I love tribal prints? Well I do! I was so excited to hear how it's in for the season. I can't wait for all the colorful wardrobe and accessories as soon as the weather gets it together and people can start putting all their black and gray winter clothes away!

I'm giving myself a pat on the back for my first tutorial post ever. I hope you enjoyed this simple project!

Til next time,

Mary, Mary, Quite.....

I don't know what to say. That has been my problem. I sign in, I look at my blog, then I go to pinterest. All because I don't know how to start my blog. Then yesterday, it hit me. Introduction post. Duh. I can't just start blabbing and assume people know me, right? Sometimes I forget that the world does not revolve around me. ha! So here goes.

I'm Mary, turning 25 in April and I live in Maryland. I'm a teacher, laser technician, and crafter rolled in to one. I started my etsy shop, KISSEMHUT, about a year ago. I have been in love with jewelry for as long as I can remember and I can't begin to explain how it feels to be making my own! To add to that, my boyfriend got me a sewing maching for my birthday last year so I have been slowly... and I mean slooooowwwwlllyyyy teaching myself how to sew.

I also love fashion, music, food, travel, and all sorts of geeky things. I dream of making this blog an extension of myself, sharing with the world all the randomness that fascinate and make up my life.

Thank you in advance for reading my posts and putting up with me. I'd be happy to get to know you all, too. So drop me a line, say hi. Comment here or email me at kissemhut@gmail.com

Spread the love!

FOR REAL THIS TIME

A few months ago, I decided that I'm going to start blogging again. I mean, why not? I've always been into writing, all the successful crafters/ online entrepreneurs are doing it, plus.. it'll be a good way of making sure I stay on top of things.

I figured, this way, I'll be able to document my crafting, be able to network, and of course, be able to advertise my products. ;)

Anyway, after I've decided on blogging, I kept going back and forth about whether to use blogspot or tumblr until finally, I said I was going to stick with tumblr.... but guess what? Now, I'm back to blogspot. For real this time. The only reason I wanted to use tumblr was because of all the posts you can see when you log in.. I thought it was clever that you can repost random entries that you liked.. a lot of inspiration opportunities if you ask me!

So I signed up and made my first post on tumblr.... and yup, you guessed it. I forgot about it. Then I signed up for Pinterest. And OMG, was I obsessed. It had all the reasons why I was intrigued with tumblr plus more! Awesome, awesome, awesome idea.

Now that I have pinterest, I've decided that I WILL go with blogspot and I WILL not turn back into my lazy self. I WILL keep this blog. I'd love to make friends and chat with my readers so please feel free to send me an email (feel free to send hate mail, too, if I go on too long without blogging. I need sense slapped in to me sometimes.)

Primarily, this blog will be dedicated to documenting my crafting journey, sharing tutorials, outfits, and new products from my SHOP. Apart from that, being my scatterbrained self, you’d probably see random things that inspire or matter to me.

Welcome and happy reading!
